Behind the Headlines: How America’s Model Minority Got Played On Affirmative Action
The Supreme Court has never been as sexy a topic as it is right now in America. It’s so interesting to pull up to a Sunday brunch, complete with bottomless mimosas, a local-celebrity DJ, mediocre shrimp and grits, and impeccable ass-shaking, only for the conversation at any given table to be, well, the Supreme Court’s latest bit of fuckery. Never in the history of America the Ghetto has politics been so mainstream, and it’s probably because never in the history of America the Ghetto has the political landscape mirrored so closly a loosely-scripted reality television show. This shit is a mess!
The Supreme Court has gotten so bad as of late that, just recently, a coalition of over 90 left-of-center advocacy groups (called United for Democracy) got together and had T-shirt printed up, came up with a secret handshake then and penned a strongly-worded letter to leaders on Capital Hill that called into question the Supreme Court’s ethics. The t-shirts were cool, but the letter was even better, as it called out the highest court’s recent scandals involving its justices, requesting Congress conduct investigations into corruption, dark money and interest-driven rulings and decisions. And while the letter didn’t name any particular justice (but certainly COULD have used Clarance Thomas’ ain’t-sh*t-ass as exhibit…
